Yokomo is a Japanese manufacturer of high-end R/C cars and electronics. They are probably best known to electric car and truck enthusiasts as the designers of the popular open endbell motor design marketed by a number of manufacturers.
Though Yokomo has always had a strong presence in onroad racing with their intricately engineered cars, they have taken the lead in a new form of onroad racing.
Called drifting, this new form of competition emulates the popular full-scale sport in which cars are made to literally slide sideways around corners in what amounts to a controlled skid.
The world's most successful R/C driver, Masami Hirosaka, works with Yokomo's research and development department in designing and testing new cars. Hirosaka is also a "Team Yokomo" professional driver.
